Authentic Italian Cuisine

111 N Big Spring St, Midland, TX 79701 (432) 683-6363

Our Story

On September 2, 1958 Louis and Zelda Hochman opened Luigi's Restaurant to bring authentic Italian cuisine to West Texas. From the checkered table cloths and saw dust floors, to the Chianti bottle candles softly lighting the travel posters on the wall, the restaurant offered an ambiance that transported guests to their Italian grandmother's kitchen. The restaurant moved across the parking lot to its current location in 1972.

The walls are now decorated with autographed photos of famous jazz musicians and playbills with cast photos from Midland Community Theater productions, though little has changed in this midland institution. For over 62 years, the Hochman family has continued to serve Luigi's Zeldas original recipes using fresh ingredients and has become the venue for countless birthdays, graduations, proposals, and wedding anniversaries with our loyal customers.

With strong ties to the Midland community, the second generation of the Hochman family continues the tradition of welcoming locals and visitors alike to experience Midland's finest Italian cuisine. In recent years, Luigi's has expanded their mission to not only trying to give their loyal customers a wonderful eating experience and at the same time trying to give back to the community through philanthropy.

What an excellent find it was when I was introduced to this restaurant during my last trip to Midland. The prices were very reasonable, the service was excellent, and the cuisine was very authentic for an Italian restaurant.

This place is a hole in the wall. I almost didn't find it. After my navigation took me down a one way road, I finally up, got out and could immediately smell it. I walk inside to a small bar and dining area with candle lit tables everywhere!

I have been wanting to go here to eat many times, but never did, and I talked to a coworker who said he’d like to place. So tonight I went, the parking is extremely limited, but you can still find lots of parking in and around. That’s pretty accessible.

Luigi's has been one of my favorite Italian food restaurants for over 20 years!! Located in the downtown of Midland. Featuring all of the favorite Italian dishes such as Cannoli, Alfredo, chicken parmesan, manicotti and fresh salads.

I visited this place for the first time last night and I love it! I entered through the back alley which leads to the backdoor. You step down into the restaurant like you’re in a secret hidden underground gem it's candle lit and has all the perfect vibes.
